GUUS JANSSEN PLAYS LEO CUYPERS
The solo album by pianist Leo Cuypers from 1972 is a gem in the history of Dutch improvised music. The percussive playing and the catchy, melodic compositions appealed to a wide audience. Cuypers had a stormy career in the 1970s, as a composer and as the regular piano player for the Willem Breuker Kollektief. He has only performed sporadically since 1984. During the presentation of the re-release of the solo album Guus Janssen will play a short set with music by Cuypers.
