Premiere ‘BIMHUIS BLUES’
two shows: 21.00 & 22.30 hrs
The latest film by Hans Hylkema (Last Date/Eric Dolphy, Jannah-New Lady in Jazz, Kid Dynamite) covers the 30 year history of the Bimhuis. In the past year he shot over 30 hours of film at the old Bimhuis which he refers to as his ‘second living room’ since 1974. The result is a lively portrait (57 minutes) of what some people call ’the most beautiful jazz stage of the world’. The film gives an impression of the daily ins and outs of the Bimhuis and is carried by a variety of musicians like Carla Bley, Brad Mehldau, Rita Reys, Willem Breuker, Archie Shepp, Ramon Valle, Sean Bergin, Greetje Bijma, Hans Dulfer, Ernst Reijseger, Bennie Wallace, Eric Vloeimans, Sex Mob, Han Bennink (among others), not only to be seen during concerts, sound checks and rehearsals but also to be heard about the significance of this stage for their music. >>> The documentary will also be broadcasted on Sunday June 12 by the NPS Television program ‘Matinee’, Nederland 3 (13.00u).
