PORTICO QUARTET

Jack Wyllie saxophone/electronics, Keir Vine keyboard/hang, Milo Fitzpatrick bass, Duncan Bellamy drums

The London-based twenty-somethings of Portico Quartet have a background in jazz, but are mainly influenced by the futuristic beats of artists like Flying Lotus and dubstep innovator Burial. Through inventive use of electronics they add new layers to the sound of saxophone, keys, bass and drums. There’s also an important role for the hang, a cross between steel pan and gong. ‘Portico Quartet’s bewitching mix can sound like a noirish jungle cruise scored by Wayne Shorter and Steve Reich’ (L.A. Times).

The concert will be 1 set of approximately 90 minutes, no intermission.
