Drummer Pierre Courbois, who has recently turned 81, celebrates his postponed 80th birthday at the BIMHUIS with 3GEN3. This new trio encompasses three generations, with the experienced bassist Wiro Mahieu and saxophone talent Jesse Schilderink, who plays with emerging jazz sensation De Raad van Toezicht. Special guest is pianist Jasper van ’t Hof, with whom Courbois formed the influential group Asscoiation PC in 1969.

Internationally renowned Dutch drummer Pierre Courbois has always been at the forefront of new developments in jazz. He took lessons with Kenny Clarke in Paris, he stood at the foundation of free jazz and fusion in Europe, and his drum breaks on vinyl are still being used regularly by DJs. He has collaborated with numerous legends, including Eric Dolphy, Ben Webster and Willem Breuker.
