PHILIPPE LEMM TRIO

PRESENTATION CD NEW AMSTERDAM

Angelo Di Loreto piano, Jeff Koch bas, Philippe Lemm drums

Dynamic mix of jazz, classical and rock by Amsterdam-born drummer Philippe Lemm and his New York piano trio. Presentation of the album New Amsterdam.

Five years ago he moved to New York, initially to study at the Manhattan School of Music; Philippe is the first Dutch drummer to have earned his master’s degree there. Now he has returned to Amsterdam, briefly, to perform with his American trio featuring pianist Angelo Di Loreto and double bassist Jeff Koch. Fresh off the shelf, their album New Amsterdam is steeped in the energy and urgency of New York, with compositions rooted in jazz and influenced by classical music and rock. Philippe Lemm has previously collaborated with, among others, Amina Figarova and Grammy winner Donny McCaslin.

‘Subtle, powerful and completely his own. Drummer Philippe Lemm has found his sound in New York, a sound that makes you want to hear more’ (NPO Radio).

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
