PHAROAH SANDERS QUARTET
Pharoah Sanders-tenorsax, William Henderson-piano, Nat Reeves-bas, Joe Farnsworth-drums
After a sold out double gig earlier this year saxophone giant Pharoah Sanders returns to the Bimhuis for two more evenings. Sanders possesses one of the most unforgettable tenor sounds. Following an intense collaboration with John Coltrane, Sanders has been building an oeuvre since the 1960s, joining American and African influences. ‘His tone is a living miracle that cannot be ignored by any true jazz fan’ (NRC). ‘Sanders proved not only that he’s still a fit hero; he is also one of the best heavy tenor players’ (Volkskrant). BIMHUIS card holders (cards purchased from August 2008 onwards) are required to pay an € 8 surcharge.
