PETER EVANS – PULVERIZE THE SOUND
Wednesday19 October 2016

Trumpeter-par-excellence Peter Evans from New York performs in this daring combination of trumpet, electric bass and drums, exploring outer musical regions.

Pulverize the Sound is a trio formed by the fertile experimental scene of New York. All three members have collaborated with a huge variety of musicians in all kinds of genres, including Lydia Lunch, Evan Parker, Archie Shepp, Craig Taborn and Weasel Walter. Through over five years of constant rehearsal and performance the trio has amassed hours of music, from sprawling hyper-modernist notated pieces to improvised walls of noise. Their self-titled debut recording was issued last year by the label Relative Pitch.

‘Dahl’s unconventional bass playing was simultaneously melodic, percussive, and a white noise generator. Pride’s drums were a momentous force, and Evans’ amplified trumpet cut above, below, and through the dense rhythm. While there are those raw and visceral moments, there are also more nuanced and structured moments to grasp onto’ (Freejazzblog about the performance by Pulverize the Sound at Vision Festival).

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 till 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
