PEDRO LUIS FERRER

Troubadour Pedro Luis Ferrer provides traditional Cuban music with his own twist. In the 1970s he took part in the Nuevo Trova movement, which the Cuban government tolerated because of the politically charged lyrics involved. Now that festive music is accepted again, following the success of Buena Vista Social Club, Ferrer incorporates more and more freedom in his music. ‘Simple but lovely, importing small dissonances and hints of Cuba’s African past’ (New York Times).
