PAT MARTINO QUARTET
Pat Martino-guitar, Rick Germanson-piano, David Ostrem-bass, Scott Allan Robinson-drums
Pat Martino (1944) is one of the most renowned jazz guitarists living today. As a teenager he copied Wes Montgomery’s solos and as a student he drank hot chocolate with legendary saxophonist John Coltrane. It’s remarkable that Martino has maintained his lightning-fast, technically faultless style after a brain haemorrhage in 1980. He had to learn to play all over again by listening to his own recordings. In recent years, he’s made a series of albums for Blue Note. His latest CD, “Remember,” is an impressive tribute to his musical idol, Montgomery.
