PARKER/BARRETT/VATCHER

Evan Parker-tenor sax, soprano sax, Richard Barrett-keyboards, electronics, Michael Vatcher-drums

British saxophone player Evan Parker is one of the giants of European improvised music. Since the 1960s he has cooperated with countless musicians, from kindred spirits like Derek Bailey and Misha Mengelberg to Squarepusher and other pioneers of the new generation. He expresses his fascination for electronic manipulation in his Electro-Acoustic Ensemble. One of its members is keyboard player Richard Barrett, whose composition Vanity is regarded as one of the most important orchestra works of the 1990s. Drummer Michael Vatcher, known for his colourful playing in bands like Available Jelly and Corkestra, brought this trio together. To date the group has performed exclusively at the Bimhuis.
