Paolo Fresu & Rembrandt Trio

Paolo Fresu trumpet/flugelhorn, Rembrandt Frerichs piano, Tony Overwater double bass, Vinsent Planjer drums

Lyrical, special, vivacious, cinematic: these characteristics are often attributed to both Paolo Fresu and the Rembrandt Trio. These four musicians are indeed a wonderful match. The combination of a typically Dutch waywardness and a deep Italian sense of drama and aesthetics has previously led to wonderful music, and sold-out concerts for very enthusiastic Dutch crowds.

For decades, Italian trumpeter Paolo Fresu has been a top player in European jazz. He’s praised for his lyrical style that reminisces Miles Davis in his prime years. He worked with major artists such as Carla Bley, Stefano Bollani, Ralph Towner, Richard Galliano en Omar Sosa. He also celebrates success as a band leader, and as an organizer for festivals.

The Rembrandt Trio has built up quite a reputation in the past sixteen years, for their artistic curiosity. Alongside classical, Arabic and Persian musicians, the trio regularly shares the stage with renowned jazz players from international jazz. The collaboration with Paolo Fresu has developed into an adventurous friendship.
