In 1994 he made his international breakthrough with the Grammy-winning album A Meeting by the River, a collaboration with guitarist/producer Ry Cooder.
V.M. Bhatt was praised as ‘one of the greatest and most expressive slide players in the world’ (Acoustic Guitar Magazine) and worked together with famous Western musicians such as Taj Mahal, Bela Fleck and Jerry Douglas. At the Bimhuis he will be accompanied by Nihar Mehta on tabla.
