OVAL KNALPOT (replaces PAN SONIC)

Due to a serious injury of Mika Vainio, for which he is now being treated in a hospital, Pan Sonic’s concert in the Bimhuis tomorrow Saturday, April 4, has been canceled. The duo Knalpot (Raphael Vanoli and Gerri Jaeger) will replace Pan Sonic; their recent (February 2009) Bimhuis debut was a great and much discussed success. Pan Sonic and Bimhuis are aiming to organise a concert later this year. German electronics experimentalist Markus Popp makes minimalist industrial music with his group Oval. His work sounds like a CD full of scratches, but structured in such a way they become compositions with complex rhythmic patterns. Intricate layers of sound with minimal variations suck in everything in its vicinity. The Knalpot duo sounds like a motorbike race between Radiohead, Clark and Squarepusher.
