JOHN LUTHER ADAMS – VEILS SOUNDSCAPE (WORLD PREMIERE)
with from 10.30pm
FRED FRITH (SOLOIST)

The music of Alaskan composer John Luther Adams (not John Adams) could be compared with the the light art of his fellow country man and visual artist James Turrell. The way Turrell’s material has been reduced to the essence – projected light in various colors and geometric shapes – Adams composes his soundscapes, also with basic information. Tones are stretched and layered in slow canons, the harmonic continuation is almost inaudible. For the Output Festival Adams created a new version of his soundscape Veils. Adam’s sound and light landscape Veils will start at 6pm as an independent installation. At 10.30pm guitarist/composer Fred Frith will wander in Adam’s broad tone field for about an hour and a half.
