This year, the 12th edition of the Amsterdam Dance Event (‘The Worlds Biggest Club Festival’) takes place at more than 40 locations in Amsterdam. OREN MARSHALL ‘The Jimi Hendrix of the tuba’ (John Fordham). Oren Marshall is pioneer and virtuoso on the tuba. He explores the possibilities of the acoustic and electric tuba. Marshall collaborated with Derek Bailey, Keith Tippet and the London Philharmonic, a.o. SLEEPYTIME GORILLA MUSEUM Sleepytime Gorilla Museum is avant-garde group from California that combines art-rock, jazz, avant-metal, gothic and theater in a remarkable way. The musicians also play in bands like Charming Hostess, Idiot Flesh, Tin Hat and inkBoat. ‘SGM is one of the few bands in a multitude of self-consciously intricate metal acts that manages to retain a distinctive sound, counterbalancing their feigned desolation, difficult time signatures, and adept metal breakdowns with a penchant for melody and arty experimentation.’ (Pitchfork).
