Omer Klein Trio

Omer Klein piano, Haggai Cohen-Milo bass, Silvan Strauss drums/percussion

With the significant title Personal Belongings, Omer Klein created his most personal album to date. During lockdown he composed six solo pieces, and the remaining four tracks were recorded with his acoustic trio. The ensuing tension creates a thrilling and engaging alternation between moments of quiet contemplation and energetic trio camaraderie. At the BIMHUIS they will perform selections from Personal Belongings as well as previous albums.

Pianist Omer Klein is among the current batch of young Israeli musicians making waves in international jazz music. In New York he played with trumpeter Avishai Cohen and band leader Omer Avital, and he released an album on John Zorn’s Tzadik label. He currently lives in Germany, but he still collaborates with his main trio featuring bassist Haggai Cohen-Milo and drummer Amir Bresler. The three musicians are so tight-knit that they have arrived at an original style which is more than just a sum of its Eastern and Western parts.
