The Ruhr region is a breeding ground for new jazz thanks to the outstanding jazz course at the Essen conservatory, as well as one of Germany’s best jazz clubs, Domicil in Dortmund. NL-RUHR Music Kitchen couples Dutch groups with talented musicians from the Ruhr district. Trumpet player Christian Kappe already played with Jasper van ’t Hof and now his quartet meets Kristina Fuchs. The Amsterdam based vocalist revisits her Swiss roots and improvises on folk tunes with Jeroen van Vliet (piano) and Mete Erker (saxophone). The musicians will create a shared repertoire during several days of rehearsals.
