New Niks is the new group of the Rotterdam drummer Arend Niks. With fellow townsmen Hoorweg, Suntrop and Le Clercq he presents an original mixture of diverse genres. Elements from free jazz, blues, swing, hot club, folk and brass band are easily blended in compositions filled with time variations, surprising changes and stops. ‘Original European jazz on a high level’ wrote the Volkskrant.
