A tribute to world cities by the esteemed Sena Dutch National Youth Jazz Orchestra led by pianist, composer and arranger Martin Fondse.

Pianist and melodica player Martin Fondse is renowned for his narrative, cinematic style. He has an excellent reputation as a big band leader and composer. This year he’s the artistic director, conductor and soloist of the esteemed Sena Dutch National Youth Jazz Orchestra. The program City Lights references global cities that have influenced Fondse’s music.

‘Fondse is a master of light and airy ensemble textures, harmonic economy, contrary motion and the sensible integration of improvised and composed material’ (Downbeat).

Every two years the Sena Dutch National Youth Jazz Orchestra is reformed with the best young talents. After intensive coaching the band goes on a prestigious tour and collaborations with Metropole Orchestra and the classical National Youth Orchestra.

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020 7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
