NABATOV/REIJSEGER/VATCHER

Pianist Simon Nabotov has played at the Bimhuis many times in the past years, with various groups. ‘Even though his beautifully refined technique often released cries of admiration, he never seems to intentionally impress with his stuntwork. ‘His breathtaking runs on the piano, the apparently effortless independence of his two hands and the unrestrained energy serve an expressive goal’, is what De Volkskrant wrote about one of his concerts. This trio with cellist Ernst Reijseger and drummer Michael Vatcher, two world class improvisors, had its premiere (and were a highlight) at the Utrecht SJU Jazz Festival of this spring.
