MOSTLY OTHER PEOPLE DO THE KILLING

in collaboration with NPS Radio

Peter Evans-trumpet, Jon Irabagon-sax, Moppa Elliot-bass, Kevin Shea-drums

Mostly Other People do the Killing (MOPDTK) consciously turns traditional jazz upside down. ‘Jazz is funny’, according to bassist and band leader Moppa Elliott; consequently, eccentric ensembles like ICP and Sex Mob are his great examples. His acoustic quartet has relations with the jazz scene as well as with alternative rock bands like Bright Eyes. Watch out for the versatile trumpet player Peter Evans, who released his debut album on Evan Parker’s label psi. ‘One of today’s most vibrant ensembles. MOPDTK travel through the history of jazz, recontextualizing the past with an impertinent wit that keeps the music fresh’ (All About Jazz). in collaboration with Moers Festival
