MOSCOW ART TRIO

The Moscow Art Trio performs authentic Russian folk music with the starkness of the blues. Before the fall of the Berlin wall Arkady Shilkloper played horn in the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra. After that he started the collaboration with pianist Mikhail Alperin and singer, flute player and musicologist Sergey Starostin, expert on the musical traditions of Russia and the Balkan. ‘The music sounds as if it has always been around: arcane, intangible, ancient and brand new at the same time’ (Het Parool).
