MISIRLI AHMET + ENSEMBLE

One of the highlights of the festival Turkey Now is the performance by Misirli Ahmet. The popular percussionist developed a unique style on the darbuka, the Arabic drum. Recently he founded the first official darbuka academy. Amongst many others, Ahmet performed with the Egyptian singing idol Muhammed Fuad and with flamenco guitarist Tomatito. In his solo performances he displays a fascinating approach to Arabic, Indian, Latin and jazz music.
