Misha Mengelberg & FRANCES-MARIE UITTI
Misha Mengelberg-piano, Frances-Marie Uitti-cello
The musical mental legacy of pianist/composer Misha Mengelberg has had a profound influence on many generations of improvisors around the world. Performances of his Instant Composers Pool Orchestra are internationally recognized as ‘state of the art’. Cellist Frances-Marie Uitti increased the possibilities of her instrument by using two bows. Internationally renowned composers, from Louis Andriessen to György Kurtag, composed solo works for her. Last year, Mengelberg and Uitti played together for the first time at the Bimhuis and this experience was a great success, therefore it is not a surprise that they came back to the Bimhuis stage.
