PARKER & MENGELBERG

This double bill opens with a rare encounter between two key figures of European improvised music. Nothing is self-evident in the world of pianist, improviser and band leader Misha Mengelberg. His part melodic, and in part surprisingly dissonant compositions have been performed by revolutionary jazz musicians such as Eric Dolphy and John Zorn. Misha will meet British saxophone player Evan Parker, who has developed a stunning improvisational style including circular breathing, double tones, overtones and live-sampling. After the duo set Parker will improvise with members of the ICP Orchestra.
