Toots Thielemans (1922-2016) would have celebrated his 100th birthday this year. Pianist Mike del Ferro honors the legendary harmonica player, with whom he has performed all over the world for a period of ten years. The concert features new arrangements of songs that Toots loved to play, and new compositions in the spirit of the Belgian maestro. Special guests are harmonica player Max De Aloe and violinist Luca Ciarla, who are both from Italy.
For many years the Dutch pianist, composer and arranger Mike del Ferro has performed solo, as a band leader, and accompanying celebrities such as Jack DeJohnette, Randy Brecker, and Trijntje Oosterhuis. He has performed in well over one hundred countries. Music label Challenge commissioned him to record a series of albums inspired by wandering the globe. Four albums have already been released, featuring collaborations with various international artists.
