‘The very best, a unique voice’, is what El País wrote about Catalan flamenco singer Miguel Poveda. Full of solemn emotion, Poveda sings of life’s greatest joys and pains. Together with his favorite dancer La Lupi he presents music of his new CD ArteSano.
ArteSano is a pun on ‘artisan’ and ‘sane art’. With his music Miguel Poveda goes back to the essence of the ancient art of flamenco, bringing it into the 21st century. You can leave this task to Poveda, an icon for flamenco purists as well as innovators of modern flamenco. In 2008 Poveda performed the unforgettable closing concert of the Flamenco Biennale at Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ.
