Michel Waisvisz Project Presentations & Talks

Boris Shershenkov, Görkem Arikan, Kristina Andersen, Tarek Atoui

Prior to the evening concert, where Michel Waisvisz’ legacy will come to life, join us for an afternoon of talks and presentations. These dialogues will focus on the concept of ‘touching sound’ and early ideas in the artist’s work relating to sampling, the crackle instruments, and improvisation. Examining intricate connections between the human body and sound, the event prompts an exploration of how we can listen through touch and tactile interactions.

Alongside Waisvisz’ former collaborators, a generation of emerging artists come together for a series of enriching conversations. Boris Shershenkov, Görkem Arikan, Kristina Andersen, and Tarek Atoui will showcase and talk about newly commissioned instruments that take inspiration from Waisvisz’ innovative creations. Through dialogue and exchange, they will also touch upon the process of re-editioning several historical instruments – including the Crackle Box and Crackle Synth – as well as the huge collection of documents, objects, and other fascinating musical tools residing in the Michel Waisvisz archive.
