Sparks fly in the improvisations of Mette Rasmussen. The Danish-born alto saxophonist has made an impression with her volume and energy, as a solo player, but also in uncompromising bands such as Mats Gustafsson’s Fire! Orchestra and Godspeed You! Black Emperor. She regularly performs as a duo with drummer Chris Corsano from New York. In Trio North they join forces with bassist Ingebrigt Håker Flaten, formerly of The Thing. Mette Rasmussen has composed new works for the trio, under the title Time Travels Through Us.
Chris Corsano is known for his experimental improvisations on drums and objects. He has collaborated with likeminded musicians from all over the world, including Björk, Evan Parker, Joe McPhee, Merzbow, and Nels Cline. Ingebrigt Håker Flaten is currently based in Austin, Texas. He made name as an improvising bassist out of his native Norway, in bands such as The Thing, Atomic, and The Source.
