METROPOLE ORCHESTRA BIG BAND MEETS MARIA SCHNEIDER
i.s.m. NPS Radio
The Metropole Orchestra contains a great jazz big band. Since many years this band works together with (inter)national top soloists and arrangers for the NPS program ‘4FM’ (broadcasted on Saturday- and Sunday nights). The band played at the Bimhuis before with Bill Holman, John Clayton and Jim McNeely. This time they meet Maria Schneider, considered as the successor to musicians like Gil Evans (her main inspiration), George Russel and Bob Brookmeyer. This year, the majority of votes from the Down Beat Critics Poll went to Maria Schneider, which made her the winner of the arranger’s category.
