METROPOLE ORCHESTRA BIG BAND MEETS BILL DOBBINS

The Metropole Orchestra houses a well known jazz big band that has been collaborating with national and international top soloists and arrangers since many years. In the Bimhuis the orchestra performed with Bill Holman, John Clayton, Jim McNeely, Maria Schneider and Bob Brookmeyer and with Vince Mendoza of course, chief conductor since a few years. This time Bill Dobbins is invited, pianist, arranger and professor at the legendary Eastman School of Music. Dobbins developed himself musically as a soloist with classical orchestras and ensembles, among which was Pierre Boulez. From 1994 until 2002 he led the famous WDR Big Band in Cologne. The NPS will make radio recordings during this concert, which will be broadcasted in the program ‘NPS In Concert The Bands’ on Monday October 29th by Radio 6 at 10PM.
