MATMOS / MIDAIRCONDO KARLHEINZ STOCKHAUSEN, A TRIBUTE

The two men from Matmos have survived many trends in the world of sound collage, from ambient electro to IDM (Intelligent Dance Music). These American laptop artists garnered a large popular following through their collaboration with pop icon Björk. Now, together with Swedish colleagues Midaircondo, they pay homage to the late Karlheinz Stockhausen, the pioneer of electronic music. Their main point of departure is ‘Mikrophonie I’ (1964-1965), Stockhausen’s composition for the unusual combination of two microphones, two filters, and tam-tam.
