A new international cello festival, nine days of concerts, masterclasses, competitions, cello building, films, books and workshops. With 20 solo cellists and prominent ensembles of, among others: Anner Bijlsma, Colin Carr, Dmitry Ferschtman, David Geringas, Natalia Gutman, Ralph Kirshbaum, Jean-Guihen Queyras, Ernst Reijseger, Quirine Viersen, Pieter Wispelwey, Amsterdam Sinfonietta, Asko Ensemble, Conjunto Iberico, Nieuw Ensemble and Cappella Amsterdam. In five giant steps, Anner Bijlsma will walk through the history of music from the perspective of the cello. The lectures will take place after the masterclasses (12:15pm – 1:00pm) at the Bimhuis. The first lecture will be held on October 29 in the BAM room of the Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ from 12:15pm – 1.00pm.
