Marzio Scholten is a role model for young jazz guitarists, not just because of his ‘lightning fast technique, color and sound’ (NRC), but mainly because of his ‘powerful, mature compositions’ (de Volkskrant). With his new band Identikit he presents the album Garage Moi, an cross between jazz and indie rock. The CD got a 5-star review in Het Parool.
Like his earlier bands the Marzio Scholten Identikit is made up of leading Dutch jazz musicians, such as sax players Lars Dietrich and Jasper Blom. Although they all come from a jazz background, they’re equally informed by the dynamics of contemporary pop and rock.
