Marzio Scholten is a role model for young jazz guitarists, not just because of his ‘lightning fast technique, color and sound’ (NRC), but mainly because of his ‘powerful, mature compositions, whose sober and effective melodies have a lasting effect’ (de Volkskrant). Scholten conjures modern creative jazz which offers room to the strong personalities of his band members, who include such scene leaders as pianist Randal Corsen and bassist Stefan Lievestro. This concert coincides with the release of the new album Voids, Echoes and Whispers.
