MARY HALVORSON TRIO
Mary Halvorson gitaar, John Hébert bas, Ches Smith drums/percussie
Mary Halverson is regarded as a great innovator of jazz guitar. By consciously avoiding clichés she creates her own style, influenced by the adventurous improvisations of her teacher Anthony Braxton and the eccentric rock of Robert Wyatt, Jimi Hendrix and Deerhoof. She plays her compositions, which are full of lucid, inventive melodies, with her trio from the Brooklyn scene: double bassist John Hébert and drummer Ches Smith. ‘Her sonic outbursts are tempered by compositions that are highly intelligent and harmonically sophisticated’ (Downbeat).
