Mary Halvorson’s CODE GIRL

Amirtha Kidambi vocals, Maria Grand saxophone/vocals, Adam O’Farrill trumpet, Mary Halvorson guitar, Michael Formanek bass, Tomas Fujiwara, drums

Mary Halvorson is regarded as a great innovator of jazz guitar. Consciously avoiding clichés, she creates her own style, in which she subtly distorts her semi-acoustic guitar with electronic effects. With the band Code Girl she presents her own adventurous songs, which offer room for original twists and improvisations.

Singer Amirtha Kidambi and singer/saxophonist María Grand play crucial roles in the group. Trumpeter Adam O’Farrill has experience in everything from latin jazz to electro-acoustic music. Together with Mary Halvorson, double bassist Michael Formanek and drummer Tomas Fujiwara have previously been part of trio Thumbscrew.
