Following the promising initial responses on social media and in the press, Avishai Darash now presents his new album Andalusian Love Song on our stage. The Amsterdam-Israeli pianist recorded the album with the Marmoucha Orchestra. ‘This is my best work’, says Darash. ‘I truly feel like a composer, arranger and project leader. It was a dream of mine to bring together this remarkable combination.’
Andalusian Love Song is a collaboration with the Marmoucha Orchestra, inspired musicians with a passion for music and diversity in the musical languages, styles and traditions of North Africa, the Middle east, and the Mediterranean. Darash says: ‘It’s my love letter to Andalusian music and a tribute to the evolution of that music, how it sounded and how it is now. I have selected my musicians with this in mind: Mohamed Ahaddaf is a master of Andalusian music, and Shayan Fathi is a master of flamenco drums.’
