Two exceptional maestros erupt at the BIMHUIS during the Red Light Jazz Festival, which is all about the piano this year. Marco Mezquida is honored in his home country Spain for his dazzling solo performances. According to the popular newspaper El Mundo there’s a breathtaking amount of music pumping through his veins and he has mastered every possible piano school, from baroque to avant-garde.
Rolando Luna is honored as one of the greatest pianists that has come out of Cuba. For years he has performed with esteemed artists such as Omara Portuondo and Buena Vista Social Club. His recent guest appearances with trumpet star Ibrahim Maalouf have proven that he is equally at home in contemporary jazz. At the BIMHUIS he will play with his trio in a show that is co-hosted by the International Music Meeting Festival in Nijmegen.
