MARCIN WASILEWSKI TRIO

The Marcin Wasilewski Trio is the Tomasz Stanko Quartet (scheduled 8 May 2009 in the Bimhuis), but without the trumpet player, who is full of praise for this trio: ‘In the entire history of Polish jazz we’ve never had a band like this one. They just keep getting better and better.’ Stanko recorded three albums with them on the ECM label called The Soul of Things, Suspended Night and Lontano. The trio itself recently released their second album on ECM, entitled January. ‘Part of the group’s secret is the patient ease with which they intertwine impressionistic music and powerful pulses, and here Wasilewski’s strong originals once again give much of the set its backbone.’ (The Guardian).
