MARCEL WORMS

20 YEARS NEW BLUES FOR PIANO

Marcel Worms piano

Closing concert of 20 years of New Blues for Piano, the extensive project by pianist Marcel Worms, for which 200 composers from 55 countries contributed contemporary blues compositions.

Pianist Marcel Worms, who’s specialized in chamber music and 20th century piano music, gave his first presentation of New Blues for Piano in 1997 at the Bimhuis. For this project he commissioned composers to write a blues according to their own vision. Aside from a sizeable amount of Dutch contributions the project currently includes over 200 compositions from 55 countries divided over all continents.

Following concerts all over the world, from Shanghai to Buenos Aires and from Odessa to New York, Marcel Worms will round off the project at the Bimhuis. Alongside fresh contributions he will play his dearest blues from the last 20 years and he will present a new double album with blues compositions.
