MARC RIBOT SOLO
Wednesday3 February 2016

Solo concert by guitarist and ‘jazz outsider’ Marc Ribot, icon of the New York underground who had a substantial part in the sound of records by Tom Waits and Elvis Costello.

American guitarist Marc Ribot knows his way around every style without losing his identity. His trademark grainy riffs seem to fit in everywhere, from Cuban to country. He’s widely known from his contributions on albums by Tom Waits, Elvis Costello and The Black Keys. He began his career in the New York underground, playing with Lounge Lizards and John Zorn. As a self-confessed outsider in jazz he nevertheless headlined the New York jazz temple Village Vanguard for a week, joining a select club of band leaders. His previous solo performances at the Bimhuis were dedicated to impossible guitar pieces (Exercises in Futility) and klezmer-like compositions of John Zorn.

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 till 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
