MALICK PATHÉ SOW & BAO SISSOKO

ADUNA
Afterwards: DJ RON RUITEN
Malick Pathé Sow vocals/hoddu/guitar, Bao Sissoko vocals/kora

They have their roots in Senegal and they’re both from families of griots, or storytellers, who keep the West African traditions alive. Malick Pathé Sow has a warm voice and plays hudu, the West African lute, with which he has accompanied Baaba Maal, among others. In Europe he met Bao Sissoko, who complements him perfectly both as vocalist and player of the kora, the African harp. Their recent duo album Aduna contains subtle, trance-like songs which go beyond language barriers. ‘The finest African exile album of the year’ (Guardian).
