Dutch trumpet player Maite Hontelé is a remarkable presence on the salsa scene, which is traditionally dominated by men. She causes a sensation in Colombia, where she currently lives and where she is recognized everywhere she goes. She grew up with the salsa toured with the Cubop City Big Band. South-Americans love her ‘new sound of old school salsa’, in which she mixes old styles with contemporary influences.
