The Magpie Music Dance Company, an Amsterdam collective of dancers and musicians, creates real-time compositions. Their music, nor choreography has been rehearsed; the performance comes into existence instantly, it is improvisation in its purest form, from modern dance to ballet to new dance, from electronic music to jazz. A special contribution to this creative process comes from the light-designer, who places the various stages of the developing performance in constantly shifting visual surroundings.
