MAARTJE TEN HOORN STRING QUARTET
Maartje ten Hoorn-violin, Jeffrey Bruinsma-violin, Lorre Lynn Trytten-viola, Saartje van Camp-cello
Maartje ten Hoorn studied violin and composition at the Royal Music Conservatory of The Hague. After her graduation she focused on composing electronic music but also collaborated with the Maarten Altena Ensemble and the ICP Orchestra. With her own string quartet, for which she also composes, she builds a bridge between free improvisation and contemporary composition processes. Her open mind for all possibilities in music, released from structures, music as ‘organized sound’ as Varèse called it, characterizes her work.
