Saxophonist Maarten Hogenhuis is making name internationally with his exciting power jazz group BRUUT! Also, his trio is becoming a mainstay in Dutch jazz. The previous album Mimicry received rave reviews and this spring sees the release of its follow-up Rise & Fall. Hogenhuis wrote the music on the album especially for his current band members: drummer Mark Schilders (Fabrik, New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra, Jeroen van Vliet Moon Trio) and British bassist Phil Donkin (Dhafer Youssef Birds Requiem, Nils Wogram Root 70, Nir Felder, Marius Neset, Shai Maestro, Ben Monder).

Prior to trio, bass clarinet player Joris Roelofs will perform a solo set. Joris Roelofs excels at alto saxophone as well as bass clarinet and is rightfully praised as ‘an excellent reeds player’ (Trouw). He has lived in New York, where he formed a trio with respected American musicians. Alongside jazz he takes his inspiration from classical music and contemporary improvised music.
