MAAK’S SPIRIT FEAT. KGAFELA OA MAGOGODI

A strikingly varied spectrum of acoustic sound, short themes, unexpected shifts in tempo, open forms and plenty of space for improvisation characterize the music of this Belgian-French collective. In 2004 Maak’s Spirit headed for Johannesburg to work with two performing poets: Kgafela Oa Magogodi and Samatha 7, who tell it like it is about South African society. The meeting resulted in Stroke, an intense mix of jazz, hip-hop, rock and spoken word.
