Lucia Cadotsch – Speak Low II

Lucia Cadotsch is being hailed for her unique, personal variations on jazz standards alongside lesser known gems from other genres, with Speak Low. In this formation her clear, unadorned vocals form a fascinating contrast with the daring interplay of tenor saxophonist Otis Sandsjö and double bassist Petter Eldh, both well-known contributors to the Berlin improvised music scene. In spite of their minimal acoustic line-up they evoke a plethora of sounds and timbres.

Speak Low’s first album earned wide acclaim, including five star reviews in Downbeat and The Guardian. Its follow-up Speak Low II contains another exquisite selection of songs. These were previously recorded by, among others, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone and Rickie Lee Jones. The album features a broad range of songwriters, including Kurt Weill, Duke Ellington and Brian Eno.
