Luc Ex’ OBJET SONORE – première

Luc Ex samples/ambient noise, Ab Baars sax

Objet Sonore was concocted by Luc Ex: a horn-shaped object, 7 metres long and 3.6 metres high, designed by visual artist Peter Zegveld. This new sound installation is the focal point of this two-part outside concert (below the BIMHUIS). The program takes place twice, at 2.30 PM and 4 PM.

In the first part, Lux Ex presents a new composition. Objet Sonore #1 consists of city noise: building sites, trolley bags, sirens, train brakes: by organizing them, Lux Ex creates music. He holds a sonic mirror up to the city, although the mirror image will be distorted by his musical manipulations.

Part two is a duo performance: Ab Baars plays saxophone while Luc Ex accompanies him, or challenges him, with all kinds of sounds, sort of like an audio set builder. For example, the sax could take on a duet with a falling tree, a roller shutter, or worn-out windscreen wipers. Both musicians will be amplified by the horn.
